Calcium Silicate and Fibre Cement Building Board Production Line

Asbestos-free board lines for partition walls, ceilings and decorative substrates — flow-on or Hatschek forming, pressing, autoclave curing, drying, sanding and finishing.

Calcium Silicate Board Production Lines We Supply

3, 5 or 8–10 million m² a year · Flow-on or Hatschek forming · Asbestos-free

Calcium Silicate and Fibre Cement Board Production Process

Raw material preparation and fibre pulping → slurry mixing → forming on the board machine → stacking and pressing → pre-curing → autoclave curing → demoulding → drying → sanding, edge trimming and inspection → packing. Optional: UV coating for decorative finishes.

Calcium silicate board or fibre cement board

Both are made on the same type of line, with different formulations. Calcium silicate board is based on siliceous and calcareous materials — quartz sand and lime, with cement — reinforced with cellulose fibre and cured in an autoclave. Fibre cement board is cement-based, with silica sand and cellulose fibre. Both are used for partition walls, ceilings, building boards and decorative substrates. All our lines are asbestos-free; no new line in China uses asbestos today.

Calcium silicate insulation — high-temperature boards and pipe sections for industrial plants — is a different product made on a different line. See our calcium silicate insulation board and pipe section line.

Flow-On or Hatschek Forming

We supply both forming machines.

  • Flow-on (flow-box) forming — the slurry flows onto a moving felt and is wound onto a forming roll until the sheet reaches its thickness. The equipment is simpler and costs less, energy and running costs are lower, it is more tolerant of raw material variation, and it uses less water. Most of our board lines use flow-on forming.
  • Hatschek forming — rotating sieve cylinders pick up thin layers of slurry from vats and transfer them to the felt and the forming roll. It is the traditional sheet-making process for fibre cement.

We recommend one after reviewing your products and raw materials.

Board Line Equipment

SectionEquipment
Raw material preparationFibre pulping, silica and lime preparation, batching and slurry mixing
FormingFlow-on or Hatschek board machine; a twin-roll board machine for 8–10 million m² a year
Pressing5,000, 7,000, 10,000 and 14,000-tonne presses, matched to board density and output
Autoclave curingAutoclaves with steam recovery: exhaust steam from one autoclave heats the next, saving about 25–30% of the steam input
DemouldingAutomatic board release after autoclaving, for boards stuck to the steel templates
Drying and finishingDryer, sanding, edge trimming and online inspection, so defects are caught before packing
Decorative finishing (optional)A UV coating line for stone and wood patterns, high-gloss or soft-touch surfaces — supplied with the board line or added later

Capacity, Board Sizes and Density

Capacity3 million, 5 million, or 8–10 million m² a year (twin-roll board machine)
Board size2440 × 1220 mm standard; also 2400 × 1200 and 3660 × 1220 mm
Thickness4–24 mm for volume production; fibre cement board from 3 mm up to 30 mm
DensityCalcium silicate board 0.9–1.4 g/cm³; fibre cement board 1.4–1.8 g/cm³

Every line is configured to your board types, thickness range and raw materials. Board density, strength and dimensional stability depend on your local sand, lime, cement and fibre, so send samples for testing before the configuration is fixed.

Product Standards: EN 12467, ASTM C1186, JC/T 564

  • EN 12467 — fibre-cement flat sheets for internal and external wall and ceiling finishes. It is adopted in the Gulf as GSO EN 12467. It does not cover sheets for fire protection purposes.
  • ASTM C1186 — flat fiber-cement sheets for exterior applications such as wall claddings, facades, soffits and trim, in Type A (exposed to sun, rain or snow) and Type B (not directly exposed), and four grades by flexural strength.
  • JC/T 564.1-2018 (China) — fibre-reinforced, non-asbestos calcium silicate boards for wall panels, suspended ceilings, partitions and composite insulation panels.

Tell us the standard your market uses and whether the boards are for interior or exterior use: it decides the formulation, the density and the press you need.

Site and Project Timeline

Site for a 5 million m² a year lineAbout 1.7–2.7 ha of land with 10,000–15,000 m² of buildings
DeliveryFirst shipment about 2–3 months after contract; the rest follows in batches
Installation and commissioning30–60 days on site, usually with 3–4 of our engineers

These are typical figures; your output, products and site decide the final configuration and schedule. Boards from this line are also the facing boards of EPS cement sandwich wall panels. For other plants, see our building material production lines.

What to Send for a Quotation

  • Board types: calcium silicate, fibre cement, or both; interior or exterior use
  • Thickness range, sizes and density

Frequently Asked Questions

Are your boards asbestos-free?
Yes. Every line we supply produces asbestos-free boards, reinforced with cellulose fibre.

Which forming process should I choose — flow-on or Hatschek?
For most new plants we recommend flow-on forming: the equipment is simpler, investment and running costs are lower, it uses less water and it tolerates more variation in raw materials. Hatschek forming is also available. We recommend one after reviewing your products and raw materials.

Can one line make both calcium silicate board and fibre cement board?
Both are made on the same type of line with different formulations and curing settings. Tell us which boards and thicknesses you plan to make, and we will confirm the configuration.

Should we test our local raw materials first?
Yes. Board density, strength and dimensional stability depend on your local sand, lime, cement and fibre. A raw material test before the line configuration is fixed avoids costly changes later.

Can you add a UV coating line for decorative boards?
Yes. It can be supplied together with the board line or added later to an existing plant.

What board sizes, thicknesses and densities can the line make?
Standard 2440 × 1220 mm boards (also 2400 × 1200 and 3660 × 1220 mm), 4–24 mm thick for volume production — fibre cement board from 3 mm up to 30 mm — at 0.9–1.4 g/cm³ for calcium silicate board and 1.4–1.8 g/cm³ for fibre cement board.

How long does a project take, and who do you send?
The first shipment leaves about 2–3 months after contract and the rest follows in batches. Installation and commissioning take 30–60 days on site, usually with 3–4 of our engineers.

What do you need to prepare a quotation?
Your board types, thickness range and sizes, target output, raw material information, project location and planned timeline.
